ABOUT DARJEELING WHOLE LEAF TEA (MOONLIGHT) :

Moonlight Darjeeling Teas are generally produced from the clone varieties of Camellia Sinesis. The grades of these moonlight teas are of the highest and plucking is extraordinarily fine. Only the silvery blooming buds and the two leaves are used to make this specialty tea. Folklore has it that it is plucked during the full moon nights only and processed into made tea before the break of dawn. Be it folklore or myth, the term moonlight has been used as a synonym for the finest of tea grades and has turned it into a brand in itself.

DARJEELING TEA STORY:

Darjeeling, the land from where the eponymous tea, famously described as the champagne of teas comes, is situated in the foothills of the Indian Himalayas. Ranging from 100-4200 meters this mountainous region borders Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet. Most of the tea bushes in Darjeeling owe their origin to tea seeds from China “smuggled” out by famous Scot adventurer and botanist Robert Fortune nearly 200 years ago. By 1850 annual consumption of tea in Britain was already at around two pounds per person. Even as the Victorian England demanded its brew, the English traders were wary of having to depend upon China as a sole supplier. They had gone beyond looking for alternative supply sources; they wanted their very own source. This is what changed the course of Darjeeling forever – from being just a hamlet of few houses in remote fastness of Himalayas, to a hill resort and finally to a producer of world famous tea.

TASTE:

Moonlight Teas are light bodied, floral and is characterized of having multiple subtle tastes which feels like nectar.

OUR ROLE:

Teas taste best when they’re fresh. Much like vegetable and fruit, teas do go stale over time. The traditional tea route is a long one, beginning in the garden and involving multiple middlemen. It takes between 6-8 months for teas, once produced, to reach the consumer. We did away with the long supply chain, reducing it from five stages to two. We’ve become the single link between producer and a global consumer base. The happy consequence is a better price for a much better tea. Not to distributors. Not to resellers. But to tea drinkers. Buy Aromatic & fresh Single-Estate Darjeeling Teas, Handpicked from the finest Tea Gardens. We bring you the Best Darjeeling Tea from the Award-Winning Tea Gardens. HOW TO
